Furnace Replacement
The furnace is the heart of your home’s heating system, and it needs to be able to keep your family warm all winter long. If your furnace is beyond repair, 1st Choice will replace your furnace or install a new one. We will help you decide the best size and model for your home and ensure it’s installed correctly.
Five Signs It’s Time for a New Furnace
1. Your furnace is old.
A properly maintained furnace can last up to 20 years, but they generally begin to break down after about 15 years. At this point, it may be more cost-effective to buy a new one rather than continue to repair it.
2. Your heating bills have increased.
Older appliances can consume more energy and cost you more money. If you notice it starts to cost more to heat your home, although nothing has changed, it may be time for a new furnace.
3. Your furnace turns on and off constantly.
If you can hear your furnace turning on and off all the time, it’s costing you money and wasting energy. This means it’s time to call 1st Choice to try to repair the issue or determine if it’s time for a replacement.
4. Not all rooms are the same temperature.
If some rooms are much colder than others, this means your furnace may not be able to keep up with your home’s heating needs like it used to. This is a sure sign that it’s time for a new system.
5. You see, hear, or smell something.
If something seems off, you should inspect your furnace for signs of damage. If you see cracks or corrosion, call in the professionals to repair it or consider a new unit. The furnace could be leaking carbon monoxide so make sure to call immediately if you believe there is a leak.
Furnace Maintenance
Your furnace should be serviced before every heating season to ensure it will work optimally. The cold Wisconsin nights can make them work hard, and with regular maintenance, you can have peace of mind that you won’t wake up freezing in the middle of January. Below are a few reasons you should have your furnace maintained each year.
- Save money.
When your furnace is on a regular maintenance schedule, you can rest assured that it’s always running at optimal levels. You will not waste money on unneeded energy or replacing your furnace when the problem could have been avoided. - Less chance of breakdowns.
There is less of a chance that your furnace will stop working in the middle of the night if it is on a regular maintenance schedule. - It will last longer.
The average lifespan of a furnace is 15 – 20 years if it is properly maintained. With maintenance, you can get more years out of your furnace and save yourself money. - The warranty will be valid.
Warranties generally require that the furnace receive annual maintenance. If that is not followed, the warranty will be void. Keep it valid with a yearly maintenance schedule.
Heating & Cooling Controls
1st Choice offers programmable and smart thermostat options. They both can save you money, but the major difference is that programmable thermostats need to be manually programmed, while the smart thermostats connect to Wi-Fi and can be regulated from your smartphone or on their own. Most people don’t use the features that are available on programmable thermostats. Smart thermostats can sense the temperature in the home and the outdoor temperature and keep the home perfectly regulated.
